Move Money — simple, instant business payments by Kopo Kopo

Starting today, all Kopo Kopo customers now have access to Move Money, a simple, instant way to make business payments. Move Money unifies outgoing payments (i.e. Transfer Now and Pay to Others) into a single experience. Whether withdrawing money to your account(s), sending bulk salary payments, paying to an M-PESA phone number, or paying a vendor via bank transfer, Move Money has you covered.
Move Money supports the following (links are how-to guides):
- Pay to bank accounts (individual & bulk) (Android, Web)
- Pay to M-PESA phone numbers (individual & bulk) (Android, Web)
- Pay to M-PESA Paybill Numbers (individual) (Android, Web)
- Pay to M-PESA Till Numbers (individual) (Android, Web)
- Withdraw to your account(s) (Android, Web)
Even better, the fee is only KSh 50 per payment no matter how much you send (e.g. KSh 1,000 or 999,999) or how you choose to send (i.e. bank or M-PESA). If you send 10 payments worth a total of KSh 1,000,000, for example, the fee is KSh 500. Note: Settlements to your preferred M-PESA accounts remain FREE.

We built Move Money to give you peace of mind and a greater sense of control when making business payments. Here are the benefits you can expect:
⚡Instant payouts
Nearly all Kopo Kopo business payments are now available to recipients in real-time. All M-PESA payments (i.e. Paybill, phone number, Till Number) and most bank payments credit to the recipient account within seconds.
Two caveats:
- For a small minority of bank transfers, Kopo Kopo has to send payment instructions via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT). These payments take 1–2 business days to arrive. We are working on making these payments real-time as well.
- Payments may be delayed if the Safaricom network or M-PESA application is down or degraded for any reason (e.g. peak traffic, scheduled maintenance, etc.), or if an involved bank is experiencing downtime or operational delays. These are outside our control, of course, but we will always communicate with and support you through these periods.
🧘♂️One simple experience
Move Money is now live on our Android app, USSD channel (*681#) and web app (tutorials here). Any time you want to move money out of your Kopo Kopo account, simply select “Move Money” and follow the prompts.
😎 Pay with confidence
Make stress-free business payments with Move Money.
- Catch invalid bank account numbers to ensure your money reaches its destination. If you enter a 9-digit NCBA bank account number, for example, we will let you know that NCBA bank account numbers must either be 10 or 12 digits long.
- Use Hakikisha to confirm the business name whenever you pay to an M-PESA Paybill or Till Number.
- See individual and total fees before you pay.
- Access our instant Overdraft service when you have a low balance and need to make payments.

🤖 Schedule recurring payments
Save hours every month and minimize mistakes with recurring payments. Pay per diems, salaries, vendors, utilities and more. Simply create a new scheduled payment, select the method of payment (i.e. bank or M-PESA), enter the recipient and amount, select the date/time/frequency, confirm and submit — then sit back and enjoy the breeze!
🔒 Secure by design
Move Money secures your business payments by providing instant payment notifications via email and SMS, requiring a one-time PIN to complete payments, supporting authorization via maker-checker and more. We also offer a 24-hour customer support line and stand ready to help you through anything.
🍎 One more thing…
Move Money will continue to evolve in the coming months, so be on the lookout for more ways to add money to your Kopo Kopo account and get paid by your customers. Want a clue?
I have an address but your car won’t find me. I hold out my cup for others to fill. I can be whispered in private or shouted from the mountain tops. What am I?
Share your guesses in the comments 😉
